Mar Ivanios Hidayatulla | Aug 16

Mar Ivanios Episcopa arrived at Kothamangalam in September 1685, accompanying St. Yedho Mor Baselios, who is also known as “Kothamangalam Bava” and whom we remember in the 5th Thubden. Because of the tedious journey from Mosul to India, the aged, Yedho Mor Baselios was totally exhausted, by the time he reached Kerala. He lived only for a few days in India, as after three days of his arrival in Kothamangalam, he became seriously ill. Before his passing away he consecrated Episcopa Mar Ivanios Hidayatulla as Metropolitan. The newly consecrated Episcopa Mar Ivanios Hidayatulla, was the son of Samma of Bakudaidand.
The mission undertaken by the St. Yeldo Mar Baselius was fulfilled to a large extent by his faithful associate, Metropolitan Mar Ivanios Hidayatullah carried on apostolic work for eight years. Mar Ivanios consecrated Mar Thoma III in 1686 and Mar Thoma IV in 1688. Mar Ivanios Hidayatullah is remembered on 16th August and his body is entombed at Mulanthuruthy Marthoman Church.
