Our Journey to Bethlehem – Day 11 I Jesus came to Show us the WAY to the Father
Jesus is our Saviour, our Redeemer, our Lord, and our God. Jesus said unto him, I am the WAY, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (Jn. 14: 6). A way of sacrifice. A way of holiness. A way revealed as the ‘way of the Lord’ that became incarnate and complete in Jesus. He is not a way, as in one of many; He is the way, as in the one and only. No one, regardless of reputation, achievement, special knowledge, or personal holiness, can come to God the Father except through Jesus. Jesus is the Only Way
Jesus is the only Way to heaven. He was “chosen by God” to be the Saviour, (1 Pet. 2:4), the only person to have lived a perfect human life (Heb. 4: 15), the only sacrifice for sin (1 Jn 2: 2; Heb. 10: 26), the only man to have conquered death forever (Heb. 2:14–15), the only Mediator between God and man (1 Tim. 2: 5), the only man whom God has “exalted . . . to the highest place” (Philip. 2: 9) and the only have come down from heaven and returned there (Jn 3: 13), with a promise “In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the Way to … (Jn. 14: 2-4)
The early Church followed this one and only Way. “And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women” (Acts 22:4). “But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets”. (Acts 24:14). This Way is the strait way. This is “the Way” of Christians. This is “the Way” to heaven.
