LL HG Yakoob Mar Polycarpos – 26th Dec I (Asst Metropolitan of Cochin Diocese 1978-1986) Sion Seminary, Koratty.

LL HG Yakoob Mar Polycarpos was born on 19 February 1921 to Chacko Mathew of Mazhuvancheriparambath of Ayyampalli family and Annamma of Memuri, Mulanthuruthy. He was a Member of Mulanthuruthy Marthoman Church. He did his intermediate studies from CMS college Kottayam. He took his B.A degree from U.C College, Aluva and B.T from Training College, Trivandrum.

He started his career as a High school teacher. He was The Headmaster of various schools like Kundara, Thazhakara, Karthikapally, Kottayam MD High school. He was a good Football player and He was a inspiration of all students. His grace was also a former student and Headmaster of MD seminary higher secondary school. He was ordained a as a deacon and later on 3 July 1948 he was ordained as a priest by His Holiness Geevarghese II. He built Mar Augen Boarding Home.

On 15 May 1978, Fr. M M Jacob H.H Baselios Marthoma Mathews, I consecrated him as Metropolitan Yakoob Mar Polycarpos, at Pazhanji Church. H.H Baselios Marthoma Mathews I consecrated him as Metropolitan Yacob Mar Polycarpos. He was made Metropolitan of Kochi diocese. He passed away on 26 December 1986 and was laid to rest in Sion Seminary Chapel, Koratty.
