Our Journey to Bethlehem – Day 14 I Jesus Came to make us Holy and Perfect
Lord commanded, the people of Israel through Moses ‘Be holy because I, the Lord your God, Am holy‘. His perfect Son made a perfect sacrifice for imperfect people. “For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.” (Heb. 10: 14). By the ‘sacrifice on the cross’, Jesus made perfect (the inner man) those who are being made holy in regard to their lives in the body. His grace operating within us, we experience both the conviction of sin and a desire to live holy lives.
Jesus is the one who reveals the Father to us. If we want to know what the Father is like, all we have to do is look at Jesus. Jesus perfectly obeyed the Father and lived a sinless life. Jesus Came To Earth To Serve and Give His Life as a Ransom. Our Lord Jesus tells us “You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect”. Matt. 5: 48. He was perfect in every way.
If we want to know the Father’s will for our lives, we can listen to Jesus’ words and know they reveal the Father’s truth. Jesus revealed the nature of the Father in his actions and his words. And Jesus continues to reveal the Father to us. “If we are to follow the example of Christ and walk in his footsteps, we must seek to do the same things after the pattern he set.”
In conformity with the mind and will of the Father, Jesus lived a perfect life without sin, with all of the attributes of Godliness. He had full authority over heaven and earth. (Col. 1: 16), yet He fully submitted to the Father’s authority and fully obeyed God in everything.
Jesus also came to provide an example for the believer on how to live one’s life. When a person puts his faith in Christ, he has an example to follow. Jesus lived the perfect life as the perfect man with faith in His Father. Hence, we are told, “to walk just as He walked” (1 Jn. 2: 6). Peter said. Jesus Christ provides the pattern of how believers should live. “To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps” (1 Pet 2: 21). Jesus set the ultimate example for how we should live, and as we study His life obedience sticks out most of all. So, let us be perfect as Jesus showed us and wanted us to be.
