Our Journey to Bethlehem – Day 16 I Jesus came to defeat Satan and destroy the devil’s work

Jesus came to earth to destroy the devil’s work, the devil and to free people held in the fear of death. Jesus came to deal with our greatest problem. He came to destroy the mortal enemy of our souls, Satan himself, and all of his works. This was according to the plan of God. …The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. (1 John 3: 5, 8). He lived the perfect life. At the cross, He died in our place and satisfied God’s rightful wrath for our sins. He removed the basis of Satan’s accusations against us. Jesus defeated and destroyed the works of Satan through His bodily resurrection from the dead and His exaltation to the right hand of the Father.

This is the reason for Christmas. Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. (Heb. 2: 14, 15)

Jesus destroyed the works of the devil by means of His death. He destroyed the works of the devil when He resisted the devil’s temptations. He also delivered people and drove out demons and set people free from their bondage to him. The Glory of Christ reaches its apex in the obedient sacrifice of the Holy Cross

Here Jesus triumphed over the devil (Col. 2:15). The Word of God enables Us to Defeat the Devil. The beginning of His public ministry was a lesson on how to defeat the devil.  Salvation from all evil will be attained by obedience to God and submitting to His plan. This world is a battleground between the acceptance of good and rejection of evil. This Christmas let’s put on the full armour of God. so that we can take your stand against the devil’s schemes (Eph. 6: 11).
