Our Journey to Bethlehem – Day 2 I Jesus Came to Bring Light to a dark World

Published by Jacob P Varghese on

“I have come into the world as Light, so that whoever believes in Me may not remain in darkness.” John 12: 46. The world is full of darkness and sin and death. Jesus came to save us from all this darkness. Just as the “Genesis light” chased away the darkness of the newly created world, the “Incarnate Light” of Jesus was needed to dispel the darkness of sin which had found its way into the human heart.

The world immersed in darkness and chaos, without shape or purpose. God began the process of creation with a new life with light, the beginning of transformation. Jesus…said, “I am the Light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life” John 8: 12. Our calling is to stay in the light of Jesus, and to take the light of Christ boldly and courageously into a dark world, so that those in darkness can know the hope and peace of the Light of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the One who gives us true peace and joy, and who turns our darkness into bright light.

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a Light has dawned (Is. 9: 2). What came into being through the Word was life, and the Life was the Light for all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness doesn’t extinguish the light” (John 1: 3-5). Jesus’ main purpose was to save the world full of darkness and sin and death, by bringing people out of darkness and into light. Jesus does not want anyone to remain in darkness. I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness (Jn. 12: 46). He gives us the light of living with God for all eternity in heaven.
