Our Journey to Bethlehem – Day 5 I Jesus came to make us children of God

The Son of God became human, because God loves us and wants to make us true children of God. Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! (1 Jn 3: 1). God gave His only Son to die in our place so that we might be adopted as sons (Eph. 1: 5…; Gal. 4: 4–5). As children of God, we have a place of glory with Jesus Christ. God has promised that His children will be glorified together with Jesus Christ.

Our Second birth is spiritual birth, the New birth and we are born again members of the family of God, with citizenship of the kingdom of God. We become God’s Children and adopted to the sonship of God and Christ. Becoming a child of God requires faith in Jesus Christ. “To all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12).

The rewards of being a child of God are immeasurable. As a child of God, we have the privileges of Security and Authority of the Triune God, Intimacy to call our Father, Abba, Assurance, and Inheritance to be heirs in his Kingdom. And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty. 2 Cor. 6:18. Thus Jesus Christ gave us the privilege of being called as children of God.
