Our Journey to Bethlehem – Day 6 I Jesus came to Reveal and Demonstrate God’s Love for Sinners
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3: 16
“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” 1 John 4: 10
“God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” This is supremely true when it comes to God’s love for us. Christ’s death is the great proof, the ultimate demonstration of God’s love. St. Paul says about the cross in Romans 5: 8, the death of Christ is the demonstration of God’s love. God loves us; he loves us so much Christ died for us. Christ’s death was the only way sin could be atoned for without sinners being destroyed, was absolutely essential to God’s plan of salvation.
Jesus’ love is caring, consoling, committed and conspicuous. Jesus hates only sin, but loves sinners. Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life to take our place, pay for our sins, and give us eternal, abundant life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him (John 3: 17).
